Strat Tournament Players Club

Constitution (Ratified 10/12/25)

 

1)      Structure.  The Strat Tournament Players Club (STPC  https://strattpc.com/) is a  volunteer-driven organization dedicated to the enjoyment of Strat-O-Matic™ (SOM) Baseball tournaments.  STPC members can play either in online or in-person tournaments in our various regions (East, South, Jasper, West, NetPlay, PureStrat and Experimental).

2)      On-Line Tournaments

a)      NetPlay Region is our region which uses the Strat-O-Matic Computer Games Net Play Option

b)      PureStrat is our region which uses the current cards from Strat-O-Matic, the STPC Dice Roller, and Discord for voice

c)      Experimental is our region which uses different rules, formats and sometimes even different seasons but uses the STPC Dice Roller and Discord for voice.

3)      In-Person Tournaments

a)      In the various regions of the country where face-to-face tournaments are held, where the current card set from Strat-O-Matic is used. Dice and Dice Towers are supplied to be used for the tournaments

b)      The names of the region (with the exception of the Jasper Region) signify where in the Countries (US and CANADA) their tournaments are held. The Jasper Region (renamed for the late Jim Jasper in 2006) basically covers what is considered the Midwest

4)      STPC Authority and Responsibility  STPC is governed by an unpaid Council that is comprised of representatives from each STPC region.  The STPC Council’s authority is limited to:

a)      The planning and conduct of the STPC Championship Tournaments (a.k.a. The Worlds and Mid-Summer Classic).

b)      The STPC Website which will have:  

i)        A link for each Region for schedule and tournament information.

ii)       Recent winners highlighted.

iii)     National points calculations and rankings for STPC Members and links to region points, calculations and rankings (including how these determinations are made).

iv)     Historical archives, e.g. past World Champions, Marino Award winners

v)       Approval of recommendations for new rules for In-game rules for all tournaments as made by the Rules Committee.

vi)     Useful statistics including prior drafts and average pick sheets.

vii)   The Code of Conduct (to which all members must adhere).

c)      The Rules Committee Process for rule changes.

d)      Extending membership invitations and responding to and approval/disapproval of membership requests.

e)      The discipline for members who violate the Code of Conduct at any National Tournament.

f)        The appointment of the Moderator, Webmaster, Treasurer, Statistician, Records Keeper and all other volunteers responsible for various STPC functions.

g)       Deciding the annual Kenny Marino sportsmanship award recipient.

h)      The STPC Constitution (this document).

i)        Financial Authority to determine payouts or award as deemed in the best interest of STPC

k)       In the event a person is serving as the director over multiple regions they only receive 1 vote on the council not 1 per region

l)        The council is also responsible for deciding on who would join the council in case of someone stepping down or being removed

m)    Future changes to this document can only be made by a vote where there is at most 1 dissenting vote of the council members.

5)      Regional Authority.  Regional Authority covers everything not defined in Section 4 for STPC and specifically includes:

a)      How the Rules Committee representative for their region is determined and how long they serve. 

b)      Everything relating to the scheduling and conduct of tournaments within their Regions except when the STPC Championships (a.k.a. The Worlds and Mid-Summer Classic) are conducted in a location considered within their region. This includes whether funds are collected and set aside for a points championship and how that championship would be determined.

c)      Recruitment of new players.

d)      Regional points calculation (which may, at Regional Council Member’s option, be delegated to STPC).

e)      The discipline for members who violate the Code of Conduct at tournaments within their regions (not including the Worlds).  If any sanction is imposed, the Region Director will inform the STPC Council of the infraction details and the corresponding sanction so Council Members can decide whether wider sanction is appropriate.

f)        If both Regional Directors agree they can decide a tournament is considered to be a “joint” tournament between both of those regions.

6)      Regional Responsibility.  Each Region will:

a)      Follow the in-game rules that are published on the STPC website.

b)      Prepare and align with the STPC Council a regional tournament schedule prior to Strat-O-Matic’s Opening Day

c)      Name the Tournament Director responsible for every regional tournament. The Tournament Director’s responsibilities are:

i)        Pay the STPC Treasurer $5/person/tournament. The STPC Treasurer is listed on the STPC Website.

ii)       Provide a copy of each draft (DRAID Format preferred) to the volunteer responsible, also called the STPC Programmer. 

iii)     Provide pre and post play-off records  to the STPC volunteer responsible, also called the Records Keeper.

d)      Complete all regional tournaments by December 20th of each year.

 

7)      Rules Committee.  The STPC Rules Committee will consist of one chairman (appointed by the STPC Council) and one representative from each region (appointed by the Regional Director) and will be responsible for:

a)      The in-game rules.

b)      Providing clarifications (as needed).

c)      Following the rule change process that is provided by the STPC Council.
