WORLDS Tie Break
Process with 5 Divisions - General considerations
A) No Shoot-outs. Ties are broken by one-game play-offs (1GPO), head-to-head (H2H) or a roll of the 20-sider.
B) No one can advance (or miss advancing) to the play-offs only because of a 20-sider roll or H2H records.
C) In all tied cases, teams are ranked according to H2H with ranking ties broken by the 20-sider. Team 1 (T1) refers to highest ranked tied team, Team 2 (T2) the second highest and so on. H2H is only used when all tied teams played all their opponents (within the tied-teams pool) the same number of games.
D) From a starting pitcher perspective, 1GPO games are considered to be an extension of the regular season (i.e. starting pitchers stay in rotation). A starter/reliever who is not eligible to start because of a previous start is also not eligible to relieve.
E) Home team and home park goes to the team that won the majority of previously-played games. If they split (or didn’t play), home park is the average of the two parks (round toward 10) and home team is determined by a roll of the 20-sider.
F) Add two wins and two losses to all teams that played four fewer regular-season games.
G) Pen resets before each 1GPO game but no reliever may pitch more than 2 innings in any 1GPO game.
H) When tied teams are all advancing, HTH is used to determine seeding unless they had the same HTH records. If two teams are tied and they split when they played, a 1GPO is played and the winner has the higher seed. If three teams are tied for first, rank the teams by their HTH records (T1, T2 and T3). Case 1: Their HTH records are all different – Seeding is determined by HTH. Case 2: T1 had the best HTH record and T2 and T3 had equal HTH records (for 8 games) - T1 is the #1 seed and the #2 and #3 seeds are determined by what happened when T2 played T3. If they split when they played, a 1GPO is played to determine the #2 and #3 seeds. Case 3: If T3 had the worst HTH record and T1 and T2 had equal HTH records (for 8 games) – T3 is the #3 seed and the #1 and #2 seeds are determined by what happened when T1 played T2. If they split when they played, a 1GPO is played to determine the #1 and #2 seeds. Case 4: T1, T2 and T3 all have 4-4 HTH records. See below for the 1GPO schedule where 3 teams tied for first. In all 1GPO games where both teams are advancing, if both teams agree, the result can be determined by a roll of the 20-sider.
Step 1 – Determine
the Division 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Finishers
1st,
Determine Division Winner
If 2 teams are tied for first and they split when they played, a 1GPO is played to determine the division winner. The loser of this game advances to the play-offs as the 2nd team from this division. To determine the 3rd team, see 3rd, Determine #3 Seed below.
If 3 teams are tied for first and their HTH records are all 4-4, roll the 20-sider for seeding and play the following schedule:

2nd,
Determine the #2 Seed and the #3 Seed (division was won outright)
If 2 teams are tied for second and they split when they played, they play a 1GPO with the winner advancing as the 2nd play-off team and the loser advancing as the 3rd play-off team from this division.
If 3 teams are tied for second, the teams are seeded according to the H2H records with ties broken by the 20-sider. Teams play the following schedule:

3nd,
Determine the #3 Seed (#1 and #2 Seeds have been determined)
If 2 teams are tied for third, a 1GPO is played to determine the #3 Seed.
If 3 teams are tied for third, the teams are seeded according to H2H records with ties broken by the 20-sider. Team 2 plays Team 3, winner plays Team 1 and the winner of that game wins the #3 Seed.
If 4 teams are tied for third, the teams are seeded according to the H2H records with ties broken by the 20-sider. Team 1 plays Team 4 and Team 2 plays Team 3. Winners play and the winner of that game wins the #3 Seed.
If 5 teams are tied for third, the teams are seeded according to the H2H records with ties broken by the 20-sider. Teams play the following schedule:

Step 2 – Determine
the team that gets the first-round play-off bye
Rank the Division Winners by number of wins after the round-robin. Do not include tie-breaker games. Award 2 wins for those teams that played 4-fewer games during the round robin. If there are no ties for the top spot, Team 1 gets the bye. Otherwise, a series of 1GPO games are played to determine the bye team. From a starting pitcher perspective, these games are considered to be an extension of the regular season. Starting pitchers stay in rotation but do not consider any previous 1GPO games. Items D, E and G (from top) apply.
If 2 teams are tied, they play a 1GPO with the winner getting the first-round play-off bye.
If 3 teams are tied, the tied teams are seeded by rolling the 20-sider. Team 2 plays Team 3 and the winner plays Team 1 with that winner getting the first-round play-off bye.
If 4 teams are tied, the tied teams are seeded by rolling the 20-sider. Team 1 plays Team 4. Team 2 plays Team 3. The winners play with that winner getting the first-round play-off bye.
If 5 teams are tied, the tied teams are seeded by rolling the 20-sider:
